It’s a far way off from the final height of 470 feet, but Capital One tower is finally peaking over the tree line at the headquarters campus of the Fortune 500 company. The tower will join only a handful of over 400′ high rises in the DC area, and will be the tallest in the region once completed. It doesn’t look like it right now with the shroud of tower cranes surrounding it, but when done it will be an iconic gateway to the rising city and symbol of a new era — and hopefully only the beginning of what could be a true high rise district in our region.
The building’s construction will also serve as a billboard to the future of Tysons for anyone stuck in traffic on 495 or traveling via the Silver Line, occupying the space between both in a very prominent location to thousands of commuters. Some new renderings by Bonstra help give an idea of what the building will look like when complete.
