Another month, another several floors added to what will be the region’s tallest skyscraper. Capital One’s future headquarters building might only be breaching 100 feet in height now, but in a year it will be approaching the final height of 470 feet, nearly 100 feet taller than the next tallest skyscraper, 1812 North Moore in Rosslyn.
The new Capital One tower will also be more than 100 feet taller than any other building in Tysons. For those worried the tower might eclipse other buildings, remember that the rolling terrain — and the location of this particular tower — should result in similar elevations at the towers top.
In terms of the greatest presence on the skyline, Capital One will still be the most significant for some time, but NV Central which also possesses a nearly 400 foot tower, and being situated at a high point in Tysons, may end up the highest skyline element.
Regardless of the very real height rivalry that continues in Tysons and the Washington region as a whole, the Capital One tower will be a signal of future potential in Tysons.
