Another major development has broken ground in Tysons. This year has been a booming one for the highrise market in Tysons, and the new Lennar highrise at Tysons Central continues the trend. Becoming the second major highrise groundbreaking in less than a month, and the 4th overall this year. The 32-story building (Building F for now) will be located along Route 7 near the Route 123 crossroads, and include 398 apartment units, and 17,000 square feet of retail space.
The building includes some unique elements including several upper level outdoor planted terraces. I can also appreciate the level of detail put into the parking pedestal, something that can often detract from a project if left in a utilitarian format.
The groundbreaking was attended by members of the Board of Supervisors, local leaders, the construction team, and management team. Given the ready to go lay down yard for the project, it looks like the project is ready to start digging and installing. The building has limited excavation due to its above grade parking, and the lot is fairly flat as is, so expect this tower to begin appearing on the skyline sometime this winter, if not early spring.
