I’ve been following the progress at the Garfield Parcel, located at the corner of Anderson Road and Route 123, for over a year. At that time the old two story building was being ripped down making room for the new apartment tower planned by Cityline Partners. The site has had a lot of activity over the summer. The site has transformed from a pit to a multi-story building frame but the project still has atleast another year ahead of it as it climbs to the final height at 15-stories.
The project location makes it a marquee announcement to commuters and passerbys as it is visible from the Dulles Toll Road, is the first structure within the Tysons Urban District from the east, and has frontage very close to Route 123. The massing and placement of the building closer to 123, and the plans to include wide sidewalks on it’s frontage, are all good news for those who have been decrying the lack of walkability that comes with deep setbacks and cursory walkways.
Next up with regard to major milestones for the project will be the beginning of facade construction. I look forward to seeing what stone and brick options the project is intending to use.
