The second annual German Holiday Market is up and open again this year. The event has had a huge upgrade in location, going from the loop road near Chipotle to the brand new elevated plaza connected to metro. The event also has a new, very popular, partner in the festive atmosphere with the opening of the plaza ice rink.
What’s not to love? Real beersteins and other authentic german holiday goods on sale, beer from Gordon Biersch, plenty of food options from schnitzel to strudel (and of course the always satisfying Shake Shack), and lots of family oriented fun.
The best way to get to the event is of course via metro, or by foot if you live in town. The parking fiasco that is the holiday season at Tysons is in full force and one can easily lose 20 minutes each way trying to find a spot and getting out of the parking lot. It’s also easier to get to the plaza itself from the metro platform than from most parts of the mall.
There are gas heaters for those looking for a spot to eat, for parents to supervise skating children, or just to enjoy a beer or cheerwine (non-alcoholic). The event looks like it is going strong so hopefully this will continue to be an annual tradition for Tysons.
