News is coming in that the transportation bill will now be supported by Democratic senators in the Virginia legislature.
The bill which is raising taxes substantially on households in Northern Virginia, as well as imposing an inequitable $100 fee on hybrids, which will tax them at the same rate as hummers, was originally fought against by Democrats in the Senate. Substantially nothing changed in the package.
Well except that the GOP has negotiated that Medicaid Expansion will go forward if the democrats approve of the transportation bill which effectively cuts the gas tax, and makes Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell the only Governor to have done so.

Sale of a $500,000 house in Northern Virginia will now cost the seller $1250
Sales tax increases of 0.30% (From 5 cents to 5.3 cents) equate to approximately $100 per person for the whole State, and a rise of 1.00% (From 5 cents to 6 cents) for anyone in Northern Virginia, equivalent to about $300 per person annually.
Gas tax reduction will have no effect at the pump
