Taste of Vienna This Saturday

You may know that we at TheTysonsCorner are a bit envious of the established neighborhood feel of Vienna. First we visited Church Street and fell in love with the food, then we walked around the town and found when the nut-job commuters avoiding HOV restrictions on I-66 got outta town it became a pedestrian utopia, the town is reinvigorating Wolf Trap with more relevant and younger acts this summer, it attained the title Tree City for the 11th year in a row, and now they are holding a Taste of Vienna festival on par (maybe better) than the big cities next door. So what’s going on between 11am and 8pm in Vienna?

The festival will feature a who’s who of local chefs from Patrick Bazin to Chef Geoff, and a total of 30 local restaurants joining in on the event. Also notable participants include young up and coming Maple Avenue chef Tim Ma who has been wowing the region with his tasting tables and Panache of Tysons who have been quietly building a report with the Friday night cocktail crowd in the growing next door city. Of course how could one have a Taste of Vienna without the Vienna Inn? Don’t forget to enjoy a wine pairing with your meals, provided by the Vienna Vintner, or if you prefer a beer by Guiffre Distributing. Of course if drinking during the day might result in a short outing, then perhaps a nice cup of coffee by Cafe Amouri might help perk you up.

The event is going to be a blast, and supporting the first year will ensure it returns for many more. The admission itself is free, in lieu is a pay to taste method of enjoying the festivities. If you plan on parking in Vienna, the event sponsors have provided the following map to help let you know where you are allowed.

Some have been worried by the recent weather reports saying that it might rain but I’d like to point out that the event will be going on rain or shine, and this spring has been particularly dry so if it does rain it’s likely not going to be a complete wash out. As it is right now, we only have a 30% chance of rain, so lets all use our collective brain waves to send the rain north (or south where they need it for crops).

It’s not very often that you can enjoy a glass of wine, some hopefully delightful spring weather, and the best food in northern virginia in a relaxing and family friendly setting. If you are looking for a unique experience this Saturday (11am to 8pm) then make sure to check them out. If you do take a Taste of Vienna tour please let us know what your favorite vendor was and let the great people who have pulled this event together know how much you appreciated it.
