Attention photography enthusiasts and mall goers looking for some early Christmas shopping. Long time tenant Ritz Camera is closing its Tysons Mall (as well as several other locations) store and has been in the process of liquidating their stock for the past month. With only one week left before the doors close they have some camera accessories for as much as 80% off. I took the chance to go pick up a few items I have needed for a while including a new camera bag, filters, memory cards and retractable tripod… for a total of 35 dollars.
The franchise has gone through tough financial times and the closing is part of Ritz Camera & Images 137 total store bankruptcy liquidation. It has been particularly tough in the camera business of late with the rise of online retail giants like Amazon. In early 2012 Penn Camera, also located in Tysons, announced their own bankruptcy.
If you don’t know where the store is located; Head to the Panera/California Pizza Kitchen entrance of the mall and walk down the galley of food court options. Just after the McDonald’s on your right will be Ritz Camera.
