We are currently working on our review of the proposed modifications, additions, and in the case of 6 redundant routes, removals of bus service in store for the opening of the Silver Line later this year. For those of you not aware, the public will have 6 opportunities to provide comments to Fairfax County on the proposals and even an online Q&A on February 5th. The first opportunity for comment is this Thursday at Dolley Madison Library. from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
The biggest elements to note are the addition of the Tysons Circulator routes which replace previous systems that connect to the Orange Line with more efficient service to the Silver Line. A more robust connection now exists between the Orange line at Dunn Loring and Vienna to Tysons to avoid rail users who must reverse back from the Orange line to East Falls Church and up the Silver Line.
We are happy to see additional connections being made between Vienna and Tysons as well as McLean and Tysons. It also appears that the Fairfax Connector proposal will serve many of the same areas as the 23A, 24T, 15K/L, 15M, and 2T. It is possible with the Fairfax Connector service the WMATA service could now be cut back saving Fairfax County millions annually… that is unless we continue to pay WMATA for inferior bus service.
We plan on going into more detail prior to this Thursday’s meeting on McLean/Tysons proposed routes, as well as prior to the Vienna public input session on February 4th and Merrifield service on February 5th.
Please tell us your opinions on the routes that impact you. To help you keep track of the changes involved in our area I’ve created the following table;
