This past weekend we had a chance to stop by the newest completed apartment building in Tysons, and our newest sponsor(thanks for supporting us), Ovation Apartments. The building, which reached a lease-able point in construction this past Spring, has been completing a punch list of finishes since that time. With summer officially started, and a heatwave headed our way, many new residents are likely thankful that the pool is ready to help cool down.
One of the biggest questions I had when Clark began constructing the 19-story Ovation high rise was how the building would be sited and deal with the over 30′ hill on its southern face. I think they’ve done a very good job in creating a level of seclusion from the roadway while also maintaining a nice place making amenities to residents. With a lap pool, putting green, outdoor lounge spaces, and two communal grills it’s a certainty that the new amenities will be a popular location for Ovation’s residents.
In terms of the 30′ slope itself, the Ovation Apartment project is completing a very important, near vertical, public park and walkway that will better connect the entire Park Crest community with destinations on Greensboro Drive and points west, including the Sunday Farmer’s Market, our very own daily food truck palooza on Solutions Drive, and future home to the Greensboro Parklet. This also provides access to the thousands of residents within North Central Tysons to the popular Harris Teeter grocery store within Park Crest. Instead of having to walk backwards towards Park Run and across Westpark, the new vertical park and walkway will allow diagonal access for pedestrians for what would otherwise be a nuisance super-block.
