It has been two months since we last took a look at Ovation Apartments. The building has been structurally topped out, and the facade is quickly following suit. When we last photographed the building it was still mostly a reinforced concrete skeleton with almost no facade work other than some spot areas of insulation and window framing and 1st floor stone work.
Quite the difference a couple months makes when a building is nearing is completion. The brick, stone, and window layout is starting to take shape and what was only a rendering before is becoming real. I am most surprised by the slight variation in “Park Crest Two” from Park Crest One (next door) which involves the inset window bays on the front side of the building. It will provide some really spectacular floor to ceiling views of the neighborhood for the lucky inhabitants who get that unit.
It’s still unclear when the needed sidewalk work along Westpark might be completed, which has caused more than a few dangerous conditions with pedestrians being forced to walk in the street in order to avoid construction fencing. It also looks like there is plenty of work left on the swimming pool (which I assume only needs to be completed by next Memorial Day and may very well be the last element to go in).
The construction has definitely been more than just a nuisance to some of the near by residents, most notably for the early Saturday construction starts that have been more than just annoying to some next door. The good news is, the big machines and noisy components of the project will be done soon. I estimate within 3 months the building shell will be complete and the project will be relegated to interior work, and the remainder of the site work items like the pool, walkways, and landscaping.
Thanks to a commenter, “the dude” (evidently we shouldn’t call him Lebowski), on the previous update thread we’ve confirmed that Kettler will be the management firm in charge of Ovation Apartments when it is complete. In fact we found out that there is a job opening, if anyone is interested, for being the service manager for the site.
