It’s been a while since we provided an update on the 19-story second high-rise two the Park Crest neighborhood of Tysons. Park Crest sites on the corner of Westpark Drive and Park Run Drive in Northern Tysons. The community includes two existing mid-rise apartments as well as the existing high-rise condominium Park Crest One. The new 19-story high-rise currently under construction by Clark will ultimately be apartments and sit between Avalon Park Crest and Park Crest One.
It took a while for construction to get above ground due to the unique slopes of the site and extensive excavation required for four levels of below grade garage, but all of that earth work last summer was completed just in time. Now, during the winter frost, work has continued at an impressive pace with one entire structural floor being completed per week. The building now stands at 8 or 9 stories (depending on your location of measurement) and is already getting some steel window frames installed on lower frames.
The project includes 300 apartment units of varying sizes and will likely increase the population of northern Tysons by another 500 residents at some point in 2014. At the current pace it appears construction should be completed just in time for the Silver Line metro opening.
We are very excited to see how the modern glass and stone facade will look as the project continues to progress. We’ll keep you updated with pictures.
