For over a decade the only food choice for residents living along Westpark Drive, a walkable street in North Tysons which is home to 5,000 residents, was McCormick & Schmick’s. When Cityline Partners proposed a mixed use developed call Arbor Row full of future restaurants and store fronts, there were many skeptics despite this minimal competition for a significant population.
There were some worrisome moments, for instance when apartments began leasing at Nouvelle Apartments without any announcement of future retail tenants on the ground floor. Those worries went away this past week (well sort of) when announcements came that the former DC Asian Fusion restaurant Ten Penh (a play on its former address at Tenth and Pennsylvania) has chosen to open in summer 2016 along Westpark Drive in Tysons.
While no one has said specifically that the restaurant will be at Nouvelle, there are only a few places where this restaurant could open in summer 2016 (unless it were taking over for the M&S space (no indication M&S is going anywhere either).
If it turns out to be true the news bodes well for additional construction being spurred in the corridor based on the success of the apartment and retail leasing. If Ten Penh is moving to this space they may want to consider a new branding. 7911 Westpark might be too much of a mouthful, but East Meets Westpark might work well.
