Residents in the Park Crest neighborhood may have noticed some significant earthwork operations occurring along a quiet part of Jones Branch Drive the past couple months in the vicinity of the Kaiser Permanent offices. Some might be surprised to hear it’s not a high rise tower going up, but instead a recreational field being constructed as part of the Arbor Row project.
The rec field is part of an overall natural reserve and stream restoration project that stretches up the hill towards Tysons Boulevard. Once complete the green space will provide both active (sports) and passive (relaxation) park uses.
There’s no word on how long the rec field construction will take, but it is unlikely to be completed for use prior to this winter. It should most likely be ready for activity sometime by next Spring, and hopefully can become a gathering place for residents in this neighborhood who currently have minimal options in terms of public space.
