It’s been a couple months since we took a look at the new recreational fields being constructed on Jones Branch Drive near the Park Crest and Fountains developments in Tysons. At that time the site had been cleared and rough graded, but sod and other site elements were not yet begun.
Returning to the site now the property, which previously looked like any standard construction site, is beginning to resemble rec fields and associated seating/features. The fields are adjacent to a stream and associated natural preserve explaining the need for some additional fill to avoid drainage problems.
There was some question about whether parking would be available. There will be a couple dozen spaces adjacent to the fields. Ultimately the site will also be the location for a new elementary school once development levels in Tysons trigger this necessity. Both the school and field address one of the major concerns from the McLean Citizens Association which has been worried over the prospect of sharing existing rec fields and schools in McLean with new residents of Tysons.
