There have been a lot of questions about those pristine looking sports fields located next to Freddie Mac and Gannett on Jones Branch the past few months. The fields have looked complete for a few months after having been constructed by Cityline Partners as part of their Arbor Row project, but have lain dormant since then to allow for final stabilization of some of the surrounding site facilities and the near by stream valley which was also restored. All of the waiting will soon be worth it when the new fields have their grand opening this Saturday, May 16th, at 2PM.
The 8 acre public park project was dedicated to the County with the rezoning of Arbor Row complying with the requirements set by the new Tysons Comprehensive Plan. It includes a new walking trail which connects Jones Branch Road and the parks to Westpark Drive via a new asphalt path and footbridge. The public can reserve time for sports leagues and other activities via the same means as all Fairfax County recreation fields through their online application.
The ribbon cutting will also include some light refreshments, and of course lots of room for kids and adults to play some catch or kick around the soccer ball. Hopefully the weather will comply and residents in North Tysons (or anywhere around Tysons) can enjoy the first of many new recreational facilities planned for the area.
