Greystar Quietly Begins Construction on Second Tysons High Rise

Springhill Tower TwoIt’s deja vu all over again. It seems like just yesterday Greystar broke ground on the first post-comprehensive plan high rise building in Tysons, Ascent. Thirty months later, and it seems Greystar’s appetite for fanfare remains low, despite their ambitious plans in town.

Just like their ground breaking at Ascent, their newest project 1521 Celebration Drive has quietly broken ground and is moving forward with foundation piles. We visited the site this week, located on a quiet stretch of industrial land on Tyco Road, at the future intersection with a new road grid link that will connect Springhill and Tyco.

Springhill Tower Two1521 Celebration will rise even higher than Ascent, reaching 34-stories and including ground level retail that developers are hoping will transform the neighborhood they continue to expand within. It’s hard to imagine the former industrial asphalt lot today becoming a true high rise apartment, but in around three years that is exactly what will have happened. We look forward to watching the ambitious conical building rise on the skyline, and we’ll keep updating with future construction photos.
