It’s not often that the Fairfax arts scene grabs attention from nationally syndicated media, but things are changing and 1st Stage in Tysons is leading the way for a growing theater scene right here in the emerging city. What 1st Stage lacks in superficial pomp, it has overshadowed through professional and ambitious productions.
This has never been more evident than the theater’s current production of Floyd Collins, which not only grabbed the eye of the Washington Post and the Connection, but also the Wall Street Journal. The poignant musical is known for being a tough production, but 1st Stage has shown it is more than up for the task.
Tomorrow night’s show will also be a very interesting delve into the backstage of the productions at 1st Stage, with a pre-show discussion about the unique challenges of working in an intimate theater space.
1st Stage’s production of Floyd Collins closes this weekend, so this is your last chance to see what everyone is talking about.
