Most foodies are aware of the resurgence of south and southeast asian cuisine in recent years but in this second coming of all things spicy a new wave of modernized cuisine has shown that formerly delicious, flavorful, and well executed traditional recipes are being re-invisioned in unique and inventive culinary experiences. Diya restaurant provides a unique indian cuisine with a new playful twist accessible for a Tysons Corner lunch crowd looking for options. Located on Route 123 between Tysons Corner and Vienna within a half mile of some famous international cuisine including Shamshiry and Woo Lae Oak, Diya dutifully shows a fusion of American and Indian food. An accessible introduction to the menu includes the Delhi Burger, a minced lamb burger with a traditional Indian flavor, or my favorite the Mirchi Wala Gosh, goat chops which melt away with every bite.
Diya’s best deal is the weekday lunch special with a robust buffet of several vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries, hand made roti, and deserts for $12. While limited in comparison to the dinner menu, the buffet delivers a prime deal in a city where $12 will barely buy you a sandwich. The restaurant is still fairly new by Tysons standards and continues to find its place in a competitive market. We believe it provides another great example of ethnic cuisine options that can help wary diners stay away from the large franchise options which Tysons Corner is notorious for, atleast among non-residents. We hope that Diya continues to grow its niche as a modernized american and indian fusion restaurant through a continued joy in new experiments of the cuisine.
