No big news here on MITRE Building 4. The tower continues to progress with it’s steel frame and initial skinning on its way to topping out sometime this summer. The massing of the building looks pretty good and in scale with the adjacent buildings, despite being much taller. The smaller footprint selected for the building (by going taller) will help allow a new cross road connection between Anderson Road and Colshire Road which in the past design methods would have been blocked off by an oversized and shorter building.
The real look of the building will begin when the windows begin installation, as this constitutes most of the building surface. Hopefully once the building is topped out, FCDOT and Cityline can begin construction of the public improvements portion of Scotts Run which includes the above mentioned road connection. This is one of the top priorities for near by residents who have had to deal with a full year of pedestrian access being blocked by numerous construction sites, as it will provide direct access to metro from Tysons East.
