It has been a couple of months since our last update on progress from Spring Hill Station. Last month Georgelas announced they will be proceeding with building their second mixed-use tower at Spring Hill Station this year concurrently with Ascent. Both high-rises will become striking additions to the Tysons skyline, especially on approach from Route 7 and the Dulles Toll Road. At that time Ascent was only starting to peak above ground after months of excavation, foundation, and garage construction.

Today the building is starting to show its shape and look. Unlike the second building (yet to be named) Ascent is a more straight forward single tower high-rise. What might set it apart is its material finishes and interior amenities. Greystar has already started to promote the new building (though their website is a work in progress). They have also added a construction cam (for those of you who simply can’t wait for our updates from time to time).
The biggest winners from this project might be residents at Rotonda who will gain some much needed ground floor retail within a block. The First Stage Theater might also be bolstered by the presence of 800 new neighbors.

The building today stands at 9-stories, with 17-stories left to go before becoming the first new high-rise approved and constructed after the 2010 Comprehensive Plan.
