Sharon Bulova gives the Washington Post an interview about Tysons… maybe if we were called the Tysons Post, she’d consider returning our emails. PS Most DC residents don’t know where Tysons is on a map and think all it is is a mall. (Washington Post)

Finally some decisions will be made on what the funding mechanisms will be for infrastructure in Tysons. We have long argued about several of the items, but we do agree that funds will be necessary even if they go to reserves to ensure infrastructure does not lag behind needs for the growing city. The Planning Commission will start the final process tonight. (Patch)

Japanese Earthquake delay to metro cars will be mitigated by integrating current car models and new train car models as they become available. No impact anticipated for Silver Line start day. (WJLA)

Past Loudoun Leaders speak up IN FAVOR! of moving the county forward with better infrastructure choices and Silver Line. (Ashburn Patch)

Concept Image of the Day

Pop up stores aren’t needed in most of Northern Virginia because of the generally low lease rates on retail, but as urbanization occurs those low lease rates in prime markets such as Tysons will become too high for small businesses to absorb in their overhead. Instead of pushing small businesses further and further out of town to where they can afford leases, but receive far less foot traffic.

Allowances for temporary pop ups in public zones creates a feeling of retail renewal and community involvement while allowing merchants to sell unique goods at competitive rates.
