McLean Citizens Association talks gibberish at the Tysons Commission meeting, demanding dollars in 2050 money to make it seem like an even scarier number. Will future tax revenues from development also have a magical inflation number attributed to them? In that case, Tysons redevelopment anticipated to bring in 40.8 billion dollars by 2050. There now you have an inflated number for revenue also, not just scary old cost. See the letter here (NIMBY)
Look back at a letter from Phase 1, from a “concerned taxpayer”. Someone was worried that the contract awarded to Bechtel would raise the cost of the project. Interesting seeing as the project cost hasn’t changed 1 cent on any issues other than the known 150 million contract addition, which was not ratified at the time of the contract because of the rush to begin construction, and was always a known cost. I love when people aren’t held accountable for outrageous claims. See this letter here (Fearmonger)
Good lord there are a lot of “worried taxpayers” in this region. This is what happens when you project a scary number 40 years ahead of time, instead of putting it in an annual cost amount. People see billions and flip out. Here’s another person who, as a Fairfax County taxpayer, demands more information and stalling. The stalling is what is killing the plans, not the costs. PS I am a taxpayer, and have been for over a decade in Fairfax, you never saw me screaming I AM WORRIED AS A TAXPAYER, when 140,000 units were built in the county without ANY idea on how to create a focused funding plan for THEIR infrastructure, but then again I hate the line “as a taxpayer”. I think what you mean to say is “As a person with nothing better to do who likes complaining about any change”. See this guy’s letter here (Taxpayer)
