The popular and growing Mosaic District in Merrifield will soon offer 250 more luxury apartments. Set to begin residential leasing in spring 2015, the amenity-stuffed and environmentally friendly building is being constructed by Mill Creek will also feature 30,000 square free of street level retail. According to the Mill Creek website, this retail space is pre-leased and will begin operation prior to the delivery 0f the first homes. So can we anticipate more stores opening prior to the busy holiday shopping season?
Located at the heart of Mosaic District across from the Angelika Theater at the corner of District Avenue and Strawberry Lane, the building design “is an urban example of contemporary architecture and will complement the eclectic design of the Mosaic District retail tenants,” according to Mill Creek’s promotional page.
Mill Creek is also developing the nearby Avenir Place at the Dunn Loring Metro which is also expected to complete in 2015. With a new 200-unit building rising in the funky Halstead development, apartment dwellers will have an ever growing selection of walkable places to call home.
For those looking to buy new construction in the Merrifield area, the EYA townhomes in Mosaic are planning to add a Phase 2 to their development. They have petitioned Fairfax County to have an adjacent one acre parcel rezoned to accommodate 25 additional townhomes. Stay tuned.
