It is a going to be a busy summer in Tysons for events. The Tour de Tysons returns to North Central Tysons for the third year. Over 300 competitors in 10 races will compete between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. this Sunday July 11th. The races are for all ages, but the premier race will include elite athletes competing for a cash purse.
The race can be grueling, given that it includes a climb to the highest point in Fairfax County. Here’s a video from one competitor from 2014.
For those who enjoy the atmosphere of bike races but don’t plan on suiting up, there will also be lots of side activities happening including music, food trucks, and plenty of community. The weather looks like it will be perfect for a day out, hopefully the rain finishes up early and keeps temperatures down. Watching the race is free, so even if you can’t spend the whole day out, it’s easy to stop by.
