The 1st stage theater has come along way since last year when I complained that a very professional performance of Sideman went unacknowledged by the community that surrounds the theater. That was not the case last night as a line formed out the door of 1st Stage Theater for a Friday performance of Pitman Painters.
I’m not really qualified to speak to or review the performance. I could say I had a good time, a unique experience, and thought the performance was great all of which is true but I’m no drama critic. What I know is that the community is beginning to show up to enjoy a night at the theater, its making for better and better performances, and in general a feeling that the name 1st Stage is going to mean something over the next decade.
The Pitman Painters continues through October 13th (next Sunday). It is the first show of the new season for 1st Stage. If you live in the area and haven’t been to a show at 1st Stage before, I suggest you avoid the mall, grab a bite to eat near by, and head to an afternoon or evening show.
