We’ve been following the construction of Kettler’s proposed 30-story residential tower at Tysons Corner Mall as well as Tysons Tower and the new Hyatt Hotel for over a year now. The 429 unit Vita building is an integral component to the overall Tysons Tower project which will connect a new neighborhood with the existing mall and Tysons metro station via an elevated plaza which includes public space, restaurants, and park space.
Construction on the residential tower is shaping up at nearly 10-stories. Next door the Tysons Tower office building has completed much of the exterior work, and Shop Tysons Boulevard has been reopened just in time for the holiday crush that is an annual given in town.
Vita, a LEED silver building, will have an immediate presence on the Route 123 skyline, especially considering it will rise several feet above the current striking glass office tower being built next door. Significant progress has also continued on the plaza which will deck over the vehicular access to the site to provide retail and pedestrian space over the former surface parking lot. The changes for many shoppers who haven’t been to the mall in months will be eye opening, but hopefully not confusion.
