Last month we noted that Donohoe Construction had begun vertical construction of Kettler’s proposed 30-story residential tower at Tysons Corner Mall. The 429 unit building is an integral component to the overall Tysons Tower project which will connect a new neighborhood with the existing mall and Tysons metro station via an elevated plaza which includes public space, restaurants, and park space.
Construction on the residential tower has progressed as quickly as the adjacent office tower which is now well over 20-stories, and is already 3-stories above Shop Tysons Boulevard. Some of the interesting shape and massing of the building is already starting to show on the Shalom Baranes (project architect) high-rise. The LEED silver building will have an immediate presence on the Route 123 skyline, especially considering it will rise several feet above the current striking glass office tower being built next door.
In other progress news, the new entrance to the mall associated to the project is also being constructed as well as the foundations for the plaza extension and Hyatt hotel planned adjacent to the existing 6-story parking garage.
