At 12-floors above ground, the new Nouvelle by Hanover on Westpark Drive is already the tallest building its neighborhood in Tysons, tucked between abandoned two story offices and the under renovation 7900 Westpark Drive.
The building is one that has sparked our interest for a long time, being the first new building in Tysons to provide ground floor retail and retain the natural street level pedestrian section. There have been some missteps, for one their blocking off of pedestrian access which is causing headaches during construction, but the end product is going to be a keeper for North Tysons.
The building has a long way to go yet, with another 15-stories still above, but the true benchmark will be the retailers developer Hanover is able to attain. It’s still a bit early to expect any announcements. If One Tysons is any indication, we shouldn’t expect any big restaurant names until about 9 months prior to occupancy. For Nouvelle, that is expected to occur in early 2016, so expect some retail leases being announced sometime in 2015.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the high rise construction; its already come a long way since we last checked in.
