It’s been almost 3 months since we headed over to Block E of Arbor Row, being constructed by Hanover. The building is surrounded, seemingly, by cranes on every side between 7900 Westpark Drive and 1775 Tysons Boulevard.
After some site work delays this winter due to the harsh weather, and some steady work this spring, the Hanover project now prepares to peek out above the tree line. The dual 20-story and 27-story towers have a long way to go, but getting up above the tree elevation will be the first impressions many commuters and even residents of Tysons get of the ambitious mixed use project.
Away from the main construction site, there is additional work being undertaken to create new rec fields, along Jones Branch Drive, as a proffer of the approval as well. The stream restoration work for the nearby tributary, also a requirement of approval, looks to be complete and is beginning to show some life and rehabilitation.
The main draw of the project for many residents remains the prospect of neighborhood mixed use retail, which is badly needed on Westpark Drive, as well as new plaza spaces.
It is also likely that the Hanover project will act as an anchor for other development occurring at Arbor Row, as a possible catalyst for AMT’s plans for their new office building, as well as Home Properties own residential towers. This past month a massive banner sign was added to the facade of the current aging AMT building showing what is in the works next door to Hanover.
We’ll keep following construction of the project which, once VITA Tower at One Tysons is complete, will be the tallest under construction new tower coming to the Tysons skyline.
