Romney Selects Ryan as VP Candidate Ironically in Norfolk

Did you know that our naval warships are created out of thin air when corporations wish upon a star? And then they donate them to the Navy for free! Thanks Corporations!

The GOP is always good for a laugh. As if the party didn’t have enough bad history with using Naval ships as election cycle props they have selected which GOP example of prosperity and growth for their announcement? Norfolk Virginia! A city which voted 91% in support of Obama in 2008 and vehemently opposes the over reaching control of Bob McDonnell who consistently dictates state requirements on the incorporated and independent city against its will.

Romney’s first words about Norfolk were about how beautiful and important of a city it is. Absolutely I couldn’t agree more. The city, due to urbanization projects centered around mass transit (something that the GOP has literally gutted in every bill they have gotten their hands on) have turned the industrially focused city into a safe and habitable zone for its residents.

I wonder if anyone let the GOP know, in between their ironic shouts of “you did build that” that the very naval warship they stood in front of was built on government money. I wonder if anyone let the GOP know that the two locations in Virginia that they denoted in their speeches as examples of american prosperity (Norfolk and Fairfax) were built off of receiving contracts from the government?

McDonnell’s rhetoric was laughable, announcing that it was Obama who is stopping oil drilling off the coast of Norfolk (I’m sure those oil platforms, necessary refineries, and the impending oil spills would help that new beautiful and pristine Norfolk seafront). In fact off shore oil drilling, mining of uranium in the Blue Ridge, and other heavy industrial operations have been emphatically opposed by both parties in Virginia. Democrats view it as an environmental disaster in the works and Republicans view it as corporate destruction of rural lands.

Don’t worry Virginia that Chesapeake Bay that you have worked so hard to clean up over the past 25 years through bipartisan multi-generational sweat is only a couple more years away from being destroyed like the gulf coast if the GOP has its druthers. Once President Romney comes into power he will make sure that very few regulations will obstruct the largest 3 oil companies in the world from turning the birthplace of our country into a wasteland of shady construction practices to support our never ending addiction to the black liquid god. It’s not like the Chesapeake provides any other economic benefits right?

Dear GOP, stay on point about reform of entitlements if you want. You start talking about “government” over reaching and impacting good hard working American’s lives in a city that would fight with everything it has against a governor who would put the cities economic future at risk for oil company profits. How is that not big government? Oh I get it, it’s only big government when it doesn’t have to do with the things you want to get done and funded by the government. Hey Mitt, I think your hypocrisy is showing.
